A8 westbound carriageway between Newhouse Roundabout & Chapelhall Junction South Roundabout - 5 Overnight Closures

Five Overnight closures of A8 westbound carriageway between Newhouse Roundabout & Chapelhall Junction South Roundabout


Road users are advised that the A8 westbound carriageway between Newhouse Roundabout and Chapelhall Junction south roundabout will be closed for five consecutive overnights between 8pm and 6am the following day, on the dates outlined below:

  • Monday 28 October to Friday 01 November 2024 (5 nights)

As a result, the following slip and link roads will also be closed:

  • M8 westbound Junction 6 Newhouse Link Road to A8 westbound for Eurocentral & Coatbridge
  • A8 westbound Junction 6 Newhouse on slip road for A8 westbound for Eurocentral & Coatbridge (M8 & M74)

The closure is required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst carriageway surfacing works are undertaken. Works have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to road users.

A signed diversion route will be in place via M8 westbound Junction 6 Newhouse off slip road to roundabout, take 1st exit for A73 Bellside Road (South), A775 Edinburgh Road (West), B799 Bo’Ness Road to South roundabout, take 2nd exit for link road to A8 westbound and follow permanent signage for Eurocentral & Coatbridge.

Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling.

Access for active Emergency Service vehicles will be maintained provided cognisance is taken of our roadworkers presence & safety at the site.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and Police Scotland.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
