M73 southbound carriageway between Junction 2 Baillieston & Junction 1 Maryville - Five Overnight closures.
Five Overnight closures of M73 southbound carriageway between Junction 2 Baillieston & Junction 1 Maryville
Road users are advised that the M73 southbound carriageway between Junction 2 Baillieston and Junction 1 Maryville will be closed for five consecutive overnights from Monday 07 October 2024, from 8pm to 6am the following day, for essential bridge joint works.
The overnight closures are planned as follows:
- Monday 07 October to Friday 11 October (5 nights)
As a result, the following slip roads and link road will also be closed:
- M8 eastbound link road to M73 southbound at Junction 8 Baillieston
- M73 southbound Junction 2 Baillieston on-slip road from Baillieston roundabout
- M73 southbound link road to M74 northbound & off slip road for Daldowie at Junction 1 Maryville
- M73 southbound link road to M74 southbound at Junction 1 Maryville
Signed diversion routes will be in place as follows:
Diversion 1 - For M73 southbound closure via Junction 2 Baillieston off slip road to Baillieston roundabout, take 3rd exit for A8(M) Glasgow & Edinburgh Road to Swinton roundabout, take 3rd exit for A8 Coatbridge Road, take 2nd exit for A8 eastbound for Shawhead Junction off slip road (Coatbridge), A725 southbound Bellshill by-pass, A725 southbound off slip road for Raith roundabout and follow permanent signage for M74 North (Glasgow South East/Daldowie) or M74 South (Carlisle).
Diversion 2 - For M8 eastbound link road to M73 southbound closure (M74 & Carlisle) via M8 eastbound Junction 8 Baillieston off slip road (A89 Coatbridge), take 2nd exit for A8 eastbound (Edinburgh), continue A8 eastbound for Shawhead Junction and follow Diversion 1 above.
Diversion 3 – For M73 southbound Junction 2 Baillieston on slip road closure via 1st exit for A8(M) Glasgow & Edinburgh Road to Swinton roundabout, take 3rd exit for A8 Coatbridge Road, take 2nd exit for A8 eastbound for Shawhead Junction and follow Diversion 1 above.
The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential traffic loop installation and bridge joint works are undertaken and have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic. The road will reopen at 6am each morning.
The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland and the emergency services.
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
