SRP Donate to Local Mother & Toddler Group in Shotts

October 2024 - Getting Better Together Community Hub welcomes donation from Scottish Roads Partnership.
On 23rd October 2024, Scottish Roads Partnership’s Operations Manager Graham Drummond, visited staff at a family & toddler group based at Shotts Healthy Living Centre, Kirk Road, Shotts, after donating £500 from their ongoing ‘Good Neighbour Fund’ for the community hub.
Getting Better Together (GBT) run and support the local community to attend health & wellbeing activities out of the premises. Graham Drummond received a guided tour of the building by GBT Chief Executive Mark Slorance. During the walk around, they met Caroline, a GBT staff member, who was hosting the mother & toddler group. The category ‘C’ listed building has already undergone a lot of refurbishment and Mark Slorance during the tour of the building, pointed out the various rooms available for community use including a cafeteria with produce from their own community garden. GBT run a variety of sessions in gardening & cooking with nursery groups, schools, vulnerable adult groups and the local community.
A small library, yoga classes and a mens group are available for use. Also planned are an outdoor gym and an orchard at nearby Springhill.
Getting Better Together Ltd is a community based health initiative which promotes the education, health and wellbeing of North Lanarkshire residents. Working with their communities to ensure local people have access to, and are involved in, the design and delivery of programmes and services created to help improve their health, wellbeing and to build their life skill.
