SRP Donate to Local Nursery in Bellshill

26 June 2024

Scottish Roads Partnership donate child friendly traffic management cones, signs and Hi-Viz vests to Bellshill Family Learning Centre Nursery.

Earlier in the year, Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP) and their contractor Amey, who operate and maintain the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project in the central belt of Scotland, were contacted by Bellshill Family Learning Centre (FLC) children’s nursery teacher Emma Moffat, asking for a donation of old traffic cones & signs from our trunk road network. Emma explained that the children had recently taken an interest in construction work. Acting on this request, Amey staff purchased some toy traffic cones, raise & drop barrier and a pack of children’s high-viz vests. In addition, Amey contacted Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturer (SBMC) at Erskine Veterans Hospital (a social enterprise, assisting veterans with physical and mental disabilities, back into the workplace) and commissioned them to manufacture a selection of road signage suitable for child’s play.

On Wednesday 26th June 2024, after gathering the various items for donation, Amey Roads Inspector William Collins and Liaison Officer Martin Cochrane attended at the Bellshill nursery (FLC) and met with the acting depute manager Alison Paterson and nursery teacher Emma Moffat. After presenting the donation to the nursery school, they were photographed with two grateful children at the front gates of their nursery school.
