Social Value – SRP Good Neighbour Fund £500 Donation to Reeltime Music - Newarthill - Wed 13th November 2024 at 1:30pm Manager Ryan Currie
On Wednesday 13th November 2024 Scottish Roads Partnership’s (SRP) Graham Drummond visited Reeltime Music in Newarthill, Motherwell after donating £500 from their ‘Good Neighbour Fund’ to this local community group for the purchase of music equipment.
Graham was met by the manager of the centre, Ryan Currie, and together they attended Reeltime’s Annual General Meeting, where they were treated to a musical performance by students from the College Access Course. The manager Ryan Currie expressed his gratitude to SRP for the monetary donation to their community group which will help greatly in the purchase of essential music equipment, for the benefit of everyone in the club.
Reeltime Music provide a range of services for young people and the local community by working together with relevant partners. Their aim is to bring about a change in the lives of disenfranchised young people. They do this through the provision of affordable recording and rehearsal services; workshop and training provision; volunteering and partnership projects.
By providing an informal service, they have found that music is a great way to break down barriers, learn new skills, increase aspirations and develop a more active lifestyle. By promoting an environment where young people can work with friendly, knowledgeable, trained staff, to learn about things they want to, young people can learn about the value of creativity, growth and participation.
Normally a maximum grant of £500 each is available from the SRP ‘Good Neighbour’ fund. Application forms for the funding can be requested by contacting SRP’s admin manager Louise Berkley at info@scotroadspartnership.co.uk or telephone 0800 042 0188.
