Social Value – School Fair Day – Saturday 31st August 2024

At the request of Transport Scotland’s Nicola Blaney, Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP) and their contractor Amey provided two highways vehicles and drivers, who attended a school fair day at Rochsolloch Primary, Airdrie on Saturday 31st August 2024. Nicola is a member of the Parent & Teachers Council Group at the school and also arranged for a fire engine and double decker bus to be part of the vehicles on display for the adults and children attending the event to enjoy exploring.

The school event ran from 9:30am to 12:30pm, with various forms of entertainment provide for the residents and children of the Cairnhill and Gartlea and other areas of Airdrie. This included a bouncy castle, fun & games, with finger food for sale on the day. The event was organised by the Parent & Teachers Council to raise money for much needed school funds and was a great success. The fantastic sunny and dry weather contributed greatly to the Fair day, with the school thanking SRP & Amey for their contribution to the event.

The photographs below are of SRP’s Trunk Road Incident Support Service operatives John Melrose & Derek Judge, who attended the event, bringing along both a gritter lorry (named Charles Rennice Mackinslush) and a new TRISS vehicle, with new technology onboard, including a telescopic CCTV mast & a large electronic message board (mobile VMS) capable of displaying variable messages to approaching road users.
